Your tooth and surrounding gums may be tender for several days as a result of treatment and the previous condition of your tooth. This tenderness is normal and is not a cause for concern. It is best to avoid chewing on the affected side until your endodontic therapy is completed by your dentist in the form of a protective restoration. It is also a good idea to continue your regular dental hygiene routine.
Discomfort can be reduced by taking ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) as directed. We do not recommend consuming alcohol while taking these medications. Should you have discomfort that is not controlled with Advil or Tylenol, or should swelling develop, please contact this office for further guidance.
